Erosion control ideas for freshly grading lawn.

360 Sod (Donna Dixson) on Dec 29, 2011Stacy, You can seed with annual Rye grass. It will take it a bit longer (maybe 10 days)to germinate. I also suggest that you put down a light layer of wheat straw to hold the moisture on the ground to help with the germination and erosion. The wheat straw will also germinate some of its own seeds as well. When you are ready for that Bermuda let me know I can get you some of the best in the state. :)Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Dec 29, 2011There are two methods to do this. Hydro seeding which can hold the seed into place and simply dissolves over time as the grass begins to grow. A special truck is used to apply this. This type of system is used a lot on the sides of roads or in areas where erosion will take place. You will recognize this as a green color sort of paint looking stuff on hillsides along the highway that has just been seeded. They use bales of ground up hay mixed with a wetting agent and seed. The machine grinds this up and blows it out of a tube to cover the ground. It will take them about one hour to seed your lot if they have driving access to it. Straw alone can be used as well. But As Four Seasons said it will contain seeds of its own that can begin to develop.Helpful Reply
