Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Dec 29, 2011Catherine, if you are just looking for a "basic stone fireplace" then I would just build it myself. You can find all the materials you would need at either Lowes or Home Depot. Line the interior with fire resistant brick and then use your choice of stone for the outside portion. The cost here should be rather minimal, depending on how extravagant you get and the some materials you choose.Helpful Reply

Atlanta Finished Basements on Dec 29, 2011It depends on the size and the location of the gas line you would be sourcing should you want a gas hookup. Basically for a fireplace that runs about 6' wide and about 6' high on center, you can get that built for about $3,500-$5,500.Helpful Reply

Catherine G on Dec 29, 2011Thanks for the info Four Season Nursery! I don't think I want gas but if I did, there is already a gas hookup out there. $3500-$5500 isn't too bad, but I do think I will explore all my options.Helpful Reply

Johnchip on Nov 21, 2015I would not do a built-in, as it will not add value and it may lower value of the home. i would not want one, so it would be a turn off to me as a buyer. having options are always best.Helpful Reply
