How to make snow from wash powders

Years ago Ivory Snow made ivory flakes and we used to mix it with water to "snow" the Christmas tree. They quit making the flakes in 1978 but the powder that they came out with worked as well......then they changed the powder and now it just makes soup. Does anyone know of any powdered detergent that will mix with water (we used an electric mixer to fluff it up )? I miss our old tradition of snowing the tree and the wonderful fresh smell permeating throught the house. Please help me bring back memories.

I would just go to the craft store and buy some spray "flocking" and take the tree outside and spray it!

My grandmother used to 'snow' her windows with Glass Wax, went on pink and dried to white once dry. They stopped making this also and I miss putting the stencils on the windows and sponging the wax for snowmen and trees, stars, etc. It also did a great job on cleaning the windows once the holidays were over! Some of these 'old fashioned' products worked better, were more economical and had multi-use options. I can't add to the others options, but I think the potato flakes idea is a possibility!

Thanks all.. I figured out the problem, you have to use pure soap powders with no phosphates...I found a brand ( cheap ) at dollar General called FOCA. used really hot water to start and a hand mixer. I added powder little at a time and kept mixing until no longer grainy ...then added shaving cream and beat in with mixer to consistency of thick paste. I spread it liberly on each branch to look like fresh fallen snow then sprinkled lightly with glitter. I am unable to send picture but suffice to say it is the most beautiful tree to pretty to put ornaments on...so I just used pine cones tipped with white spray paint and a little glitter. also used the ice blue icecicle lights instead of string lights.
