I am looking for tips on how to save coffee grounds without them getting moldy. I am particularly sensitive to molds and just hate throwing them out.

Try drying them out on a cookie sheet in the oven at a low temperature before you store them.

Just lay them on old newspaper to dry first. They cannot be stored moist at all.

I just put them in my compost pile and stir them up.

I found just putting them in a ziplock bag in the freezer worked fine for me until I was ready to use them.

Dry them on burlap bag. Air goes all around them. Children like using dried grounds to make coffee ground bears. Use glue on heavy duty paper to draw shape of an animal. Pour grounds over glue, spread and then shake the rest off.

I'm the only coffee drinker at my home so I don't generate enough to save on a regular basis. However, I have asked for used grounds at my local coffee shop and they are more than happy to give them away. Leave them outside when it's warm or place in the oven after you've turned it off and dry them that way or use them damp...it's better to get them as needed than to have them on hand and possibly get moldy. Happy gardening!

I disagree with drying the coffee grounds out-they can become hydrophobic (can repel water) if allowed to dry. I have found the best (and easiest) way to save them is to get a plastic container with a lid (I use a 5qt ice cream bucket) put your coffee grounds in there and then place in the freezer. Just pull the bucket out of the freezer to add to it. Works great and no mold or stinky smells develop:-)) Hope this helps!
