Is there clever way to hide the stump of a cut down tree (removal is not an option due to cost)?

If you can dig around the stump and plant based on your lighting. If you cannot inplant in the ground use varying heights of plants in pots.

If you cannot have the stump fully removed/pulled out, you can probably chop into it as much as possible and then apply a product that will "rot" the stump. If you are trying to make the area look clear, I personally would not draw more attention to it by putting planters etc around each stump but I do like the idea of adding a large bowl as a birdbath

Jean go to this website www.healthy-holistic-living.com and look for the DIY Stump Removal. Is involves Epsom salts and covering the stump with a trash bag. The process does take a fair amount of time, but it is a natural solution and much, much less expensive and time consuming than traditional stump removal. Good luck!

maybe get a drill and drill holes into it then pour roundup down the holes to poison it when it dies and rots you should be able to push it right over

I love using them as planters, BUT there's a project I saw on Pinterest that I plan on trying with my next stump. I'll post my stump planter..

Here's 2 in my front yard. Drill just a couple drain holes in the log. none in the stumps. Just good soil.

You can drill holes in them, pour kerosene (NOT GAS!) and burn them. It takes a while. Smaller stumps work better than really large ones. For the large ones, you could make planters or you could screw the square wash buckets onto them and make planters or fountains. We had to have 7 very large trees cut down this year. I'm planning what I'm going to do with mine as well.

I used the poison to get rid of mine, but it took a long time and some digging. I've seen people put table tops on them, incorporating them into their gardens. I chopped a hole in the bottom of a planter and just placed the planter over the stump, added soil and planted my flowers.

Here's my 2 cents...Make 1-2 fairy gardens. Add moss, flowers, 2-3 buildings out of natural materials. Add a wind chimes.

I toped mine with a flat cover and placed a pot with a garden globe in it. I also had a garden sundial on it. They can be decorative if something placed on it...even a bird bath or a plant.
