Hi Dawn. The best place for this information will be on the instructions for installation. Also, Google farm sinks to your ratios for proper placement. Apron front or no apron. Under mount, flush, etc. are all your variables. Ask your sales person and be sure to give as much info as possible. Pics would help tremendously too.

Thank you. The sink is under mounting & with a front apron. Thanks for your advise.

I would talk with a kitchen planner as well. Is the sink under mount or flat with the counter or mounted above the counter. I believe under mount needs special construction to hold it up. Farm sink may be extremely heavy.

Normally sinks will say what cabinet size is required for installation.

The answer is: The biggest that will fit.

So much to consider here but since most people buy their sinks from a big chain store and not a store specific to kitchen design let me add some notes of caution. Don't get me wrong I am not dissing on big chain stores like Home Depot or Lowes just make sure you have someone qualified to tell you if your current cabinetry can with hold the weight of a farmhouse sink. Replacing an existing sink ( usually stainless now ) to an updated farmhouse sink there is a huge difference in weight and vintage sinks even more.

Here's an excerpt from a website regarding cabinetry and farm sinks. [Farm House Sinks Sits on the cabinet base and does not require support for the counter. They do require custom cabinets and countertops as they are pretty heavy. They are also deeper so if you want to use a disposer you will need a deep flange because the thickness on the sink will not hold a normal disposer without the flange. These sinks are best in Fireclay and also available in Stainless Steel.]
