In our climate...we generally have a foot and a half of insulation between the pitter patter of rain drops on a metal roof. All of that yummy insulation that keeps us warm in our frigid winter also deadens any sound that may occur. ....so now and then If I get caught is a good rain storm in my car I may kick the seat back in the drive and listen for a bit...another "acoustic" treat is when it falls on the tent when camping...but then camping in the rain can be a mixed bag.

Its a 40 year energy star metal, just a residential panel. I noticed that alot of people either did or didnt like the sound of metal, fact is after its insulated and installed over shingles you cant even hear anything more than shingles!!!
