Wanda, in my experience there are two factors to keeping squirrels out of feeders. One is location. To the extent possible, you need to keep the feeder out of reach. Mine is hanging from a tree on a very thin hook 4 feet long. Make sure any bushes below the feeder are kept trimmed so squirrels can't jump up from them. Then you need a good squirrel-proof feeder. Mine is a Brome Squirrel Buster Plus. It has weighted perches that cut off the seed supply if something heavy, like a squirrel, gets on them. I have on rare occasion seen a squirrel shinny down the hook to the feeder, but they either slide off when they get to the long smooth seed tube, or are thwarted by the perches. Bromes are expensive but for these features in my opinion they are worth it. And their customer service is excellent. When I misplaced a part while cleaning the feeder, all it took was one call and they quickly sent a replacement at no charge.
