Taking Dining Chairs From Drab to Fab!

Check out these 1980 era Thonet chairs I scored on Craig's List for $10 each! Of course they need some love, but the potential was there! They were in great shape physically, but the chairs were certainly dated and the lady's husband I bought them from was so glad to see them go! I wonder how'd he'd like them now?
I removed all of the fabric, cardboard and foam from the backs of the chairs and then filled the grooves with a 2 part epoxy filler
After a little bit of sanding the grooves were gone!
After I primed and painted them this is a closeup of the finished area, pretty awesome right!?
I spray painted the chairs in Benjamin Moore's Linen White, these would not have been chairs I would have painted with a brush, too much work!
And I reupholstered the seats in a grey crocodile embossed velvet, super soft!
Here is my new chair set with my recently refinished table, how I do love them!

Did you use a professional sprayer? If so, which one? I'm assuming you sanded. Anything else before actual paint? Thanks.

Are they still comfortable without the padded backs? They look really lovely
