Use an Old Window to Create a Memory Shadow Box

After seeing an old window wall hanging, I decided to create my own version to cherish the memory of my late grandparents.

I picked up several old windows at a flea market. I love old windows; they are the perfect addition to my 1933 Craftsman home.

My grandmother carried this overnight bag on every trip she went on. After she passed, I was lucky enough to get it and the items inside.

The pocket watch belonged to my grandfather who retired from the railroad.

My grandmother's birthday book. She always kept it close so she could send out cards to everyone. When the cover started to fall apart, she wrapped it with floral contact paper.

Sewing scissors my grandmother always kept beside her chair. She was an avid seamstress and loved crocheting, sewing, and quilting. She made the little cover with BB (her initials).

I covered an inexpensive piece of thin plywood with pink satin and doilies, and then added my cherished items. It took hours to get everything just right. Even now, I have the urge to open up and rearrange everything.
