How can I repurpose a full size pool table? Help!

I would love to dismantle the pool table and make something really cool and usable. It is rarely used and taking up too much space.

  • I am just throwing it out there but why not sell it? Pool tables are expensive and there may be someone who is looking for one. Then use the money to buy what you want or find a piece of furniture to transform.

If you don't want to sell it, you can use the slate of the table for countertops. We read that somewhere the other day. You can also repurpose the legs by creating a coffee table -- all you'll need is a surface to make the top of the table. The pool sticks could be taken apart to use as the top of the table, if you're looking for something out of the ordinary. And don't sleep on the pool balls, either. Here's the link to what we found: http://bungalowchronicles.com/?p=6599 Good luck!

My first option would be to sell it as Garden Frog B. suggested. If you have a large wall, you could stand/mount it against the wall and pin family pics to the felt, or add shelves for small collectibles. My daughter has a collection of little booze bottles and my initial thought was that would be terrific for displaying them on small shelves.

Let me tell you what I did with my husband's rarely-used pool table!! I am a sewer/quilter/crafter and got too old to lay my fabrics out on the floor - lol. I bought a piece of 4x8 styro insulation and cut it to fit ( serrated knife) and covered the whole thing with a flannel sheet. I could pin directly into the top. The height was perfect for cutting out my patterns without killing my back. Plus, if he wanted to play pool, we just removed the styrofoam. Please sell it to a sewer or donate it and take the deduction. Then get something else to re-purpose!

I had a friend who built a removable top for an inexpensive pool table . She put the table in her dining room and when covered with a tablecloth, you would never know it was a pool table.

Sell it and pocket the money from the sale and use that to buy a table that is a little smaller or just put the money into a home improvement fund.
