Homemade Squeegee

We saw the idea online to put pipe insulation on a rake to act as a squeegee. We were not so sure it would work. We ended up needing a second squeegee to clean Steph's garage floor and we thought we would try out the idea.
Turns out it works! But the pipe insulation kept coming off so Steph thought two zip ties would keep it in place and that did the trick!
- Rake
- Pipe Insulation
- Two Zip Ties
We had a real squeegee and this one we put together and this one was just as effective as the real squeegee. We will use this idea again!
Check out our website to see a video of this squeegee in action!

I think it would work better if you zip tie the pipe insulation on the top part of the rake. The prongs would poke through the foam after just a couple swipes on the concrete

Tempted to use this for an indoor rake, when the kids' toys are that out of hand

@J Gray but that would take all the fun out of raking! LOL

I'm afraid the prongs of the rake will puncher through the pipe installation scratching the surface on which you are cleaning. I would attach installation the other way. Another idea on which I will try.

You would think the rake prongs would poke through but they never did! Pipe insulations seems to be pretty tough, but I WOULD NOT use this squeegee on anything fragile or precious. It's strictly a workhorse for a cement floor in my opinion.

LOVE this idea! Definitely going to do this for our garage floor!
