sorry, hit enter too soon - anyway, any suggestions - on the right side of kitchen is my utility room that goes to the outside (front of house) and on the left side is my sunroom - crafts and sewing room
there is a possibility of changing some of that configuration - but just not sure how to design it
Cheri, post us some photos of the areas in question. Try to get a few different view angles and I'm sure somebody can give you suggestions.
Photos would be a great start. Also, there are some programs online - a decent free one is Homestyler, but there are other good ones that won't break the bank - that can help you design and visualize a change to the space.
Also, it seems like you should think about the reasons you want a galley - if there are more specific functionality upgrades you want, there might be other ways to approach it within the existing space.
Cheri, you could integrate your utility room space and make it one with the kitchen. Now when you say galley kitchen, do you want the island in between? is the configuration bothering your or the size? Draw a rough sketch of the floor plan and take a pic on your phone and upload it. Take a few pics of the space so we can take a look at the issue your are having.
These 4 pictures are my current kitchen - I'd like to make some changes but not sure what, if anything I could/should do - I like the galley design the best - all appliances are new
now that you can see the pictures, maybe you can help me come up with update ideas - I just recently changed paint color to the green and put in the window to let in light above the cabinets - all new appliances
I'm confused, but I'm probably missing something. Galley kitchens are typically for people without much space. You have plenty of space, and might regret making the kitchen smaller. Are you hoping to shrink the kitchen to use the space for something else?
I don't really like having the table IN the kitchen and I'd like more pantry room - thought about changing the wall and putting the ref and frez in the now pantry area - and building a center island with KraftMaid type storage all around for pantry items - I don't know - I may be better off leaving as is and just later on buy another house with a different kitchen configuration -
I have done a lot of changes for the better with this kitchen - and am pretty pleased with it now - just looking for other ideas.
The center island with lots of storage sounds like a great idea. Some of the other ideas sound like they would make the kitchen smaller, and I think that would decrease resale value. But that's just my opinion, and you are living with the kitchen, so resale value isn't everything.
