Burnt plastic on gas oven burner

I accidentally left a grocery bag near the stove and a piece of plastic melted onto the burner. I've scrubbed and scrubbed and it won't come off... any tips? Thanks

  • Once you scraped as much off as you can, you may just need to turn on the burner and burn the remainder of the plastic off. Just be sure to run your exhaust fan and perhaps open some windows to rid the house of the smell.

@Barbara L I think @Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com is providing a good tip. While it heats up you may be able to use a non-metal flipper to scrape more off as it heats up to avoid some of the fumes. Sometimes a wet non metal scouring pad will take a lot off as well. When this has happened to me I was able to remove most of it before the burner got fully hot. I have a ceramic top stove so might be easier than regular electric or gas, in that case you may only way. Good luck.

Pu it in the freezer for a couple of hours, it will get cold and you will be able to pop off the plastic
