I thought that bamboo only came in laminate.

Question

i have to get rid of carpet because it is affecting my health. i live on a fixed income [disabled] & cannot afford real wood. any suggestions on how to fix this situation ? guess i will just have to walk on plywood.

Have you looked into the local health department?  Many have both a senior and disability division that can provide you with information about programs that may pay for your flooring to be installed. There are many state and federal programs as well that you may be able to tap into.

Good idea from Woodbridge. To answer your other question, there is solid bamboo flooring, but it is something of a composite product. I think there are better laminate options out there - both cheaper and better looking. Some laminates are pretty attractive and durable. They are pretty tough. You mostly only have to worry about spilling large amounts of water on it (small amounts won't seep through the top veneer layer) or chipping edges. They can't really be refinished.

Have you looked at the thicker sheet  vinyl flooring?i know it doesnt look as good but it is better than plywood.doesnt need glued or subfloor but you will  need base shoe to hold it in place.
