If you are a consumer and a "contractor" is telling you that they are state licensed and showing you their business license, RUN do NOT WALK away. If you are a contractor and trying to understand the distinction, check out my websites and give me a call if I can be of help. A business license is an occupational tax license. All businesses must have. I have one. A state contractor license is only issued to those who qualified and pass certain educational and experience requirements and is governed by the State Residential and General Contractor Licensing Board.

Not at all, As Kevin said any work over $2500 requires a license. But don't turn you head to the local handyman, I work hard for our clients and back the work with a contract. The main thing is to know when It is necessary to call in a professional to do the work out of my scope. Many fail it this and make unrealistic promises they can't keep.
