Get a bucket with lid, cut a 3" hole at the top fold down on bottom (not the lid). Fill -seal with lid -Turn the hole side toward the wall or other protected area< Refill, Repeat .

When we changed cable companies, we had the two satellite dishes from the former company left at our house. Instead of trying to fine a way to dispose of them, I screwed the largest to a tree stump and filled it with soil. It's now my succulent garden and it stays green all winter long. Just thought I'd throw that tid-bit in.Now, here's the answer to your question. I drilled a few holes in the second satellite dish for drainage and screwed it to the trunk of a tree. It has screw adjustments so leveling it was no problem. Squirrels love it and there's plenty of room for squirrels and birds at the same time. It is indestructable and they love it. I spray painted it red just for the fun of it! To clean it, I spray it with the garden hose. The drainage in the bottom keeps the seeds from molding.

If your looking to feed the birds and squirrels the same feed then look for an open feeder with a roof top. So, basically it's a square or rectangular base with 4 corner post and then a top that extends out further than the base. If you want to protect the birdseed and peanuts then add acrylic to three sides.

I nailed an old colander to a tree stump. The rain and snow flow right through. They don't seem to care if it gets wet.
