DIY Mason Jar Cloches

Easy
Are you having winter blues? This easy DIY project might just lift your spirits. I love perusing through the numerous seed catalogs that arrive in January. If you plan to start your seeds indoors, here is a great way to beautifully display them on your window sills as they germinate. This is so much prettier than those unsightly seed flats they sell.
For this project, you will need:

different size and patterned clear mason jars;

drawer knobs;

candle holders

epoxy glue;

Jiffy Seed Pellets;

seeds of your choice
Take your Jiffy pellets and place them in a tub with a couple of inches of lukewarm water. Once they have swelled up (this usually take about 5 to 10 minutes), lift up the netting on top and place 2-3 seeds per pellet. Set aside.
To make your cloches, turn your mason jars upside down and glue the drawer knobs with epoxy glue to the glass. I removed the middle part of the lid, but kept the screw part on.
Set your seed pellets on the candleholders and place the mason jar cloches on top of your candle holders. The cloches will keep the seeds warm and help to germinate your seeds. Display them in front of your window sills.
Mist them daily and keep them moist until they sprout.
Once they begin to sprout, you can either transplant them right away or place them in a new mason jar, without the knob until the seedling is big enough to plant outdoors.
To plant them outdoors, simply take the whole pellet and plant in soil.
