A Water Feature for a Shade Garden

We wanted to add a small water feature to our shade garden and used a pot to make a bubbling fountain.
You'll need a sturdy decorative pot - this one is about 3' high and 30" across. Pick one with some detail or colour that will work with the theme of your garden - Asian, cottage, modern, etc. You'll also need a small pump, some tubing and pipe plus a basin to catch the overflow and hide the pump. We got ours at a nursery that specialized in water gardens. You'll need to drill a hole through the base of the pot to accommodate the pipe.
Surround the base with small river rocks or gravel, add some woodland plants and you'll have a beautiful focal point in your garden.
Bubbling water always adds an element of serenity to any backyard.
The water will trickle down the outside of the pot to be recycled through the pump system hidden at the bottom in a catch basin.
Use river rock around the base and plant woodland plants such as this ghost fern to soften the edges.
