How to Keep Cats Out of the Plant Beds

Trying to find a successful way to keep cats from using your plant beds and gardens as a litter box can be quite frustrating. I've been in the same boat, but I didn't want to use anything that would harm the cats. I found a solution that has been successful!

i too have a problem with a new neighbor who has an outside cat and now has attracted any stray around. They were doing their business in my new rose garden. Mulch did not keep them away. I tried many things but in the end I put chicken wire around the plants and covered it with mulch as they do not like to feel anything pinchie or wet on their paws. It did keep them out of the flower gardens, but then I seen where they did their business on a small wall area that I have rubber mulch on. Just could not believe my eyes that they would go in the rubber mulch and it is in front so very visible. Bought some cat deterrent. It only last a few weeks and can get quite expensive so I am looking for an alternative for this coming spring and summer. always one neighbor who doesn't cooperate and makes it hard for others. wicklin

Why are so many cat owners so irresponsible? I have a cat. She never leaves my house. I have tried to create a wildlife sanctuary in my small yard. I have planted native flowers for bees and butterflies and created a brush pile for the bunnies. My neighbor's cat is killing all of the rabbits and using my garden beds for a litter box. I would understand if the rabbits were unfortunately killed by a natural predator such as a fox, but I can't allow this to happen because a cat is a domestic animal.
