As part of the HomeTalk Wayfair I repurposed a bookcase to function as a free-standing small pet gate, sign and game score keeper. It's going to get a lot of use!

Bookcase pieces were transformed into a gate and attached using hinges.

What a smart project! Easy on the eyes and it's sporting a chalkboard:Perfect.

I've been looking for a swinging door as a dog gate, with a little modification this would work wonderfully! Also...... if I put the latch on the opposite side it may keep Mom (she has dementia and tends to wonder) on the 'safe' side of the room away from the entrance door to the house so she can't escape in the middle of the night!!! I have keyed deadbolt locks on the front and side door but the patio door cant be bolted shut and the rod in the floor just isn't out of her reach.
