How much does it cost to have a 3200 sq ft home totally rewired?

3po3 on Jan 24, 2012$5K seems really low to me. That's about what I was quoted for my house, and it's a small, very simple house. We don't have too much wiring, it's all pretty simple (no 3- and 4-way switches, etc.), and we have already replaced the only panel in the house. I think you need to seek some legal help to find out exactly what your rights are and what you are due. There should be some groups helping people in your area with low-cost legal help, and they have probably already handled very similar cases. You might be able to find a legal aid group in your area here: http://www.lawhelp.org/Helpful Reply

Dan's of Central Florida, Inc. on Jan 25, 2012I also think that $5k is way to low as well, I would bet that the cost of materials alone would be closer to $10k. Add on to that the cost of labor and you are getting close to your $35k bid. I understand that you are trying to go through FEMA, et. al., but you might have a third party adjuster come in and take a look at things to give you a better idea of what will be involved.Helpful Reply

ElectraMedics Electrical Services on Jan 26, 2012That price is very low... The average costs to properly rewire a home including all new wiring, and main panel with a service replacement is somewhere in the $6 a square foot range. The material costs alone to (rewire) behind sheetrock would be in that range. That being said if you are down to bare studs and open walls you may get in the range of about $6000. I wish you the best of luck during this difficult time.Helpful Reply
