How do I add color to a room with brown carpet and paneling?

I will be using old chairs covered with drop cloths and old wooden pieces of furniture. I need suggestions for adding color to the room. I cannot paint the paneling but may be able to paint some of the furniture. Please help.

What room are you talking about ? A bedroom ,kitchen or living room? Why cant you paint the paneling ? Is it not allowed or lack of funds ? A little more info would help us to give you better advice.

You could paint the paneling in a light color and add a rug or two.

Artwork, photos, curtains, pillows, throws, and fabric in colors, textures, and patterns. Accessories like vases and even candlesticks can be painted in bright bold colors to add some POP to the room in groups. Bring in lots of light too with sunshine.

Hi maybe paint the walls. Place a cream colored rug over the brown rug. Mirrors and pictures for the wall. Pillows lamps. And reuse things from other room. Have fun decorating.

Since you stated you cannot paint the paneling,use a brighter color in the carpet.Change out the artwork based on that and then see if you still feel the furniture needs to be painted.

Stencil the drop cloths. Add coordinating throw pillows. Hang over sized curtians. Look in thrift stores for accent pieces.

You didn't mention why you can't paint the paneling?? If you're not renting, then painting the walls will be your best bet in my opinion. If budget is the reason, you can often get tremendous deals on gallons of mistinted paints. You would need a high adhesion primer though. Or, alternatively wallpaper instead of paint. Lots of deals available, too. Otherwise, there are some really good ideas given above ---- especially mirrors, lots of light coloured/bright artwork ---- light coloured area rug.
