Can you start forsythe bushes from clippings?

I live in KY and right now there are yellow bushes blooming all over the place that are just beautiful. I would love to have them down my fence in back but as many as I would need there isn't anyway I could afford them. My neighbor has one that she said I could have clippings from if we could get them to root. My neighbor calls then yellow bells, but I thought their name was forsythe.

These plant are easy to root. My wife has done this several times. They grow like weeds,but are not all the expensive to purchase as well.

Judy, make sure your neighbor actually has forsythia and not Tecoma stans, which is a plant often referred to as yellow bells. If it is indeed forsythia, it is very easy to root from cuttings. To my eye, forsythia is a rather weedy looking shrub after its bloom, so if you are considering a long run of it you might want to break it up with other shrubs.

The easiest, low maintenance was to propagate this is by layering: Bend a branch to the ground and weight it down with a brick. If you use big branches, you should get some good sized bushes to cut off and transplant. It's VERY easy, but takes a while.
