Faux Metal Menu Magnets

I’ve seen many versions of menu boards and command centers on Pinterest, but I was looking for something really simple that would encourage me to plan out our meals for the week.
I started by putting all of my favorite recipes into a binder. Of course, I wanted cute recipe cards so I found these at Artsy Fartsy Mama. She offers a free printable in 4 color options.
To create the “metal” days of the week magnets I started with white letters. I got these at Wal-Mart for less than a dollar each. They are very lightweight paper letters.
You will need:

Black craft paint

Metallic craft paint (gunmetal gray)

Burnt umber craft paint
I added a stick-on magnet to the back of each letter. (Note: I would recommend using a stronger magnet and maybe using hot glue to adhere it to the letter. I had a little trouble keeping these on).

Now once I plan out our meals for the week, I can simply pull the recipes from the binder and use the magnets to create a menu board on the side of the fridge. When I get ready to cook each day, the recipe is right there waiting. I also added a dry erase board from the Target Dollar Spot so we can easily jot down items we need from the store.

This entire project only cost me about $10 (I already had the paints).
