What Can You Do With Christmas Decorations After Christmas?

After all of the excess of Christmas decorations, I like to pare things down for the winter. One of the main areas that I focus on is my fireplace mantel and hearth.
I achieved this look by holding out several pieces of faux greenery and pinecones that I used for Christmas decorating.
The large wood and metal piece stays above my mantel year-round. It's a great backdrop for seasonal wreaths. Instead of a traditional wreath, I tied two faux pine bushes together with jute twine, added three ginormous pinecones and topped it off by adding a piece of black and white ribbon. The white urns are filled with snowy branches (from my Christmas stash) and branches from my yard.
Things were kept simple down on the hearth. A couple of chunky candlesticks and a basket filled with faux greenery stems and more of those ginormous pinecones.
Still a cozy area, even with the pared down decorations!
