Invasion of Kudzu Bugs....HELP
I have a wisteria next to my house that is covered by these bugs, they are literally so thick the vines look black...it's horrible. I would like to know if anyone else has successfully gotten rid of them and what they used. The other problem I have is that the vine is growing on a very tall pergola...so I may actually have to get on a ladder to spray anything. I'd also like to know if using a sprayer connected to the hose would be more effective for getting whatever I spray all over these vines, that are way up high.

RN, you have, sadly, discovered that wisteria is a host plant for kudzu bugs. Since this bug is a newcomer, only first detected in 2009, there is still much to find out about it. In the areas you can reach, I would use a shop vac with soapy water in the canister. For taller areas, look for an insecticide containing neonicotinoids or pyrethroids, but you will indeed have to climb a ladder or something to make sure it actually gets on the kudzu bugs. cannot find any bug killer that has those contents do you know a brand name ?
