An Unordinary Valentine

Easy
What do you do with all of those scraps of wood trim you have left over?
They would make a very nice unordinary Valentine decoration.

I found a piece of wood that would be big enough for my heart. I used a piece of lauan. I cut a heart from paper and then drew it on the front of the board and the back. Why the back, you will see later. Try and make sure they are in the same location. on the front and back. I put mine near the edge to they would be the same.
Once you have the heart traced onto your board, do not cut it out at this time.

Begin placing your wood trim on the heart. Some of my pieces were long so I cut them so I could use them in different locations.

I placed them all over the heart. It looked a little strange with all the jagged pieces poking out.

Now to make it look like a Valentine. Remember that heart you drew on the back? You will use it to cut out your heart.
If you had tried to cut it as you go, you would not have the stability and the pieces might break or come off. You did not want to try and cut each piece as you go.

This way, you cut out from the back and all of the boards are cut nicely.

Now for some decoration. I used an old top off of an ornament.
I flattened the top and then placed an old button in the center. I gathered some burlap into a circle and glued the top on the center and then placed it on the heart.
I drilled holes near the top and added some twisted wire for a hanger.
