Minwax Paste finishing wax problem.

I am having a very hard time trying to put Minwax paste wax on my finished furniture without it looking greasy when Im finished. I followed the directions, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I put on a light coat with a soft cloth, waited 20 minutes and buffed it. I even used my husbands orbital sander with the wax and buff attachments. I have watched tutorials and still cannot seem to get it right. I can see the circular marks from the wax when Its dry and polished. Any suggestions would be great! Thank You.

    Patricia, can you give us more detail of what medium you are waxing over? Stain, paint and whether it's oil or water based?

    Becky- It does not say if it is oil or water based. I am attempting to use it on a chalk painted dresser. I will not use it again, I read the warning label and I'm not keen on the warnings. Thank you:}

    Once the wax has dried it is pretty safe...the warnings pertain to the "solvent" type nature of the wax in its paste type form. Most waxing trouble comes from over application. A typical dinning room table can be waxed with about a tablespoon worth of wax. The tricky part is to apply in very thinly, then buff it out. I like to use a 100% cotton t-shirt type rag for the final rub out...working with the grain. waxing over paint eliminates this "need" but you will get better results if you stay in one direction.

    Thanks KMS! Ill give it a try! I had to sand it all off of the top of my freshly updated dresser! I chalk painted it last week, but I know paint really needs time to set. Thanks again!

    CeCe Caldwell makes a great wax for chalk painted furniture, I like it much better than Minwax and it's very eco-friendly. I typically wax my pieces and then let them sit overnight buffing the next day. Waxing furniture has a learning curve...my first piece was a disaster...don't give up.

    I am having trouble with Minwax Paste Finishing Wax staying Tacky even after three days. am waxing over minwax color stain mixed at Lowes. I used cheesecloth per label instructions and it shines well but does not dry.
