Can anyone tell me how to paint French Grain Sack Stripes on a table?

Question

I want to paint grain sack stripes on a table. One wide one in the middle with a thin one on either side. I am not opposed to buying a stencil but I am not sure where to find the right size for a table, or if doing by hand how do you get it to be exactly straight? I know Frog tape is needed in order for it not to bleed, but beyond that I'm lost. What I'm looking for is something similar to the picture. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Renee, 
 My first step is to sand the table top. 2. Paint the gray field with a water based chalk paint. Let it dry and fine sand adding another coat. Let dry at least 24 hrs. 
 Frog tape is good but expensive. I do use it for finer details. 
 Tape the outside of your stripe. Paint a smooth layer of your gray field color over the edges facing your design. This helps seal the edges of the tape so no white paint will seep under the edge. Let dry well. 
 After the the painted tape edges are dry, you can paint the white stripe. Do a couple of coats so the gray doesn't whisper through (i.e. white looks solid with no ghosting of the gray undercoat.) 
 Very slowly and carefully peel the tape back, moving in the direction of the gray field.

Painters tape.  Decide on the size of the strips and put the tape down along the sides, make sure the paint edge is firmly adhered to the table.  When you paint the strip do not brush into the edge of the tape.  Remove the tape right after you have finished painting the strip.  Hope that helps.

What I do to get a straight line is I measure and put a few 'tick' marks, then join the tick marks together to form a straight line. Line your frog tape up with your pencil line and check it with a level to make sure it's great. Put the frog tape just to the outside of the pencil marking, to make sure that the pencil gets painted over.

Painters tape is the way to go...you get perfect lines. I prefer Frog Tape brand.
