I have been wanting to do a fun dresser with SPiT but was dick of sanding and prepping. I wanted immediate gradification. IKEA sells unfinished dressers that need to be assembled. So I gave it a try. The wood is pine.
I took all pieces out of the box and stained it with a mixture I make from vinegar, steel wool and coffee grounds. It changed to pine to a milk chocolate color.
I let all of the boards dry overnight.
Got out my Spitout and spray bottle. I sprayed the wood so the SPiT would move better. Like a water color.
I put dots of color on each side and wet my paint brush and drug the color across the pine.
I used Unicorn Spit colors Midnight Blackness, Dragons Belly,Blue Thunder and Purple Hill majesty. Just blended with a brush and water. See how you can see the wood grain??
Let the pine dry overnight.
Applied minwax fast drying high gloss poly. Let dry and sanded in between coats with 220 paper. Then assembled the piece. IKEA has great directions for assembly.
Got it all complete and delivered to the shop today. I love working with as it is do versital, non toxic and has a nice jasmine smell. Check out the FB page Unicorn Spit Q and A or www.unicornspit.com
