I go into LOWES and ALL their plants have LOTS of flowers. All my plants at home look VERY healthy now and have LOTS of leaves and only a FEW flowers each plant. ?? What do I need to do to make the plants grow lots of flowers like LOWES or the gardens do?

slow down on the nitrogen (first number in fertilizer) and increase the phosphorus (second number). Nitrogen is great for getting green grass, but not so much for blooms. If you feed a plant a lot of nitrogen it throws all the energy into leaves, and takes energy away from the blooms. Many of the 'flowers' you see at the Lowes and other stores are 'forced' by the growers by manipulating several factors including growth regulators, light regulation and chemical fertilizers. Sometimes it makes for a weak plant, sometimes it does not affect the outcome.

I suggest you go to Autumn Hill Nursery and ask them for products that will help you. It is always better to go in person rather than make a phone call to Garden Centers in my opinion. The staff at Autumn Hill is usually very knowledgeable on problem solving for your landscape. It would probably be helpful if you take a few pictures of the problems, and maybe right down all the stuff you have already tried on them. Keep in mind it has been a very long dry hot summer and a lot of plants have struggled this year.
