Do you paint over or remove outlets and switches before painting?

If you do remove them, why? The husband and I are in a disagreement :) I don't see why you'd want to make an outlet/ light switch an accent? They're not cute.

I always remove the plate and put tape over the outlet to keep them pristine. IMHO there's nothing tackier than outlets that have been painted over. I use colored outlets that show the least. I also buy extra screws so I don't have chipped paint on the screw heads.

It takes 2 seconds to unscrew them. Always gives you a cleaner finish. I always remove my doorknobs when painting as well and don't tape around it for the same reason.
