Solution For Water Damage Over a Shower Stall

Hey friends! We made more progress in our master bathroom over the past few weeks, and I am so excited to share with you today! We finally have finished painting and tiling in our shower stall area. This drywall was pretty damaged for about a foot or so above the builder grade shower stall. It was cracked and peeling. Our solution was to install subway tiles around the top of the shower stall, so that it would be waterproof. This was also the last part of the bathroom that was still not painted, so after the tiles were installed, we finished painting as well.

Our solution was to install subway tiles around the top of the shower stall, so that it would be waterproof. This was also the last part of the bathroom that was still not painted, so after the tiles were installed, we finished painting as well.
This was my first experience installing ceramic tile. And I managed to finish this project in a day by using SimpleMat instead of mortar to hang the tiles. Now, we no longer have to worry about the drywall or the paint being water damaged.
I am very happy with the results. And although I would love to have a huge shower, it isn't in our budget to do any major construction, so we worked with what we had to improve this space. We were thinking of using vinyl floor slats. Our situation is exactly like the one you have. Has anyone tried this?

What about using peel & stick with some caulking? Like used on kitchen backsplash.

It looks nice but wait till the moisture/steam starts to get to it! It Will Fail! Then tile will start falling off the wall. Just some fyi from a tile installer / expert (my husband has been installing tile since 1982, 36 years).
