Here is how to clean a red wine stain. Mix equal parts of Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and Hydrogen Peroxide.
Pour on the stain, add some elbow grease and Wal-la, batta bing the stain is gone. Try to get to the stain as soon as possible.

Also use the Dawn/hydrogen peroxide mix to get stains out of everything. As far as I am concerned it is a miracle mixture. I keep a spray bottle full upstairs and downstairs.
