Has anyone in earthquake country had experience bolting barrister bookcases to a wall? What method did you use?

I've bolted a number of bookcases to wall...the most common is too use an "L" bracket at the top. If the top is stable this will secure the "stack". Another method is to mount them like cabinets with a screw through the back into the wall studs...this may require a spacer or shim to account for a baseboard.
