I have a narrow glass sidelight that I want to cover but still allow light to come in. Any suggestions?

  • Besides replacing the glass - they make a frosted privacy film that you can apply to the inside. It will cut down a little bit of the light though, but not much

Home Improvement stores carry a roll of self stick window covering for privacy.

The other thing you can try would be actually frosting the window - spray available at craft and box hardware stores. They also carry the film mentioned above that can simply be frosted for privacy or have the appearance of stained glass. Good luck with the project.

You could put a window sheer on it. Just buy short curtain rods for the top and bottom and stretch the sheer on them. That way you can still look out it if you need to.

Hi. You could use adhesive rice paper. Use a small rolling pin to apply it instead of a squeegy.

Crinkled up tissue paper and glue that works on glass would look very nice....you can paint it if you want to change the look plus it will just scrape off if you want to do something different in the future

I had stain glass special ordered but that would be expensive. Craft stores do sell stained glass paints with instructions and you could do it yourself.

I had Penny's decorator come out and she suggested a 1" blind to cover the sidelight. It is only 6" wide and 74" long and fits beautifully. You can open it during the day and close it at night. It's made by Graber. Penny's came out and installed it. I really like it.

Etch it with a patterned template. Hobby Lobby has etching cream and directions and patterns. It will be in the area where they have cut glass for stained glass in crafts.
