What countertop color and paint to match oak cabinets?

I have oak cabinets and I found a nice black colored counter top, and a backsplash that has neutral colors. What paint color should I use? My floors are a sandstone color, the backsplash has beige, tan and dark colors in it.

Depending on the size of your kitchen I would choose the largest wall an accent the wall with a earth tone color of a copper color of sort, then go a shade lighter for the remainder of the walls. Research Behr.com for color inspiration so you can get a better view. The colors are not exact but it is a starting point. Color samples are also available for you to purchase.

It's tough to make a suggestion without seeing a photo of the room to gauge size and other decor elements (table, windows, flooring etc) If the room is somewhat small, I'd go with the lightest color reflected in the backsplash to avoid making the room feel cave like, especially since your new countertops are black (ours is too). Because the cabinets are oak, I'd avoid yellow tones. You can always introduce black and deep grey in accent pieces but keep it spare or the darker colors will overwhelm the room.

Maybe a grey blue. Go to the paint store and get some oaint strips and see what you like.

I had oak cabinets and black granite with some brown. Did a travertine backsplash with tan and brown. I really like a light tan color on the walls with this color palette. You can accent in any color combo with this neutral backdrop. We have since had our cabinets painted a cream color with a little glaze, but I still like the tan walls. Hope this helps.

Since everything else in the room is neutral beige and brown, you need to decide whether you want the wall color to pop or blend in with the rest of the space. Reds and blues go very well with oak cabinets and will provide a pop, anything in the yellow/gold family is going to blend in with the cabinets, and taupes and beiges will blend in with the floor and backsplash.

Very nice! If that is a copper tile in there, you might consider something in that color family if you want to stay monotone. I personally love blues and Browns together so that might work if you like that asxwell

We have a nice light pastel yellow with ours...brings in a sunshiney effect. :)
