Outdoor Chandelier

I am looking for an outdoor chandelier that has a UL Damp rating. I really want something feminine that looks 'indoors'-- and can stand the moisture of being outdoors. My husband wants it to be a bit rustic too. Any ideas? I don't want a lantern-style light fixture. I need to keep the price under $400. Everything I have seen that I like is not UL Damp, so it is pretty for photos but not actually practical for being on a patio. Thank you!

A lot depends on the outdoor location....is the outdoor surface a solid surface or is it under a deck where the water can drip through the deck board. It if a solid surface, you can install any type fixture....I would look for a wrought iron fixture or solid brass as both will hold up to the elements(brass plated will eventually begin to rust. I'm sure you can find many fixtures on line. Good lighting, Gary

I saw a patio fixture made from an old canning wire rack out of a water bath canner, filled with vintage jars with lights run through them, it was very cool but it would depend on how much light you want from your fixture.

I googled 'rusting chandelier' and came up with a whole lot of sources where you might find one that suits both of you. Ask an electrician about damp-proofing the one you like. Or go to http://inmyownstyle.com/2010/11/dining-room-chandelier-make-over.html to see how to age your own. I'm using the Modern Masters verdigris paint process to age my brass-look, now copper, chandy. It was $25 from ReStore. A bit more than that to turn it verdigris copper.

I want to replace our flush mount ceiling porch light with a pendant- it takes a 10-12 foot ladder to change the bulb now- one side of the porch is open and we are in FL which can get high winds what to look for - damp rated, weather proof? ideas welcome
