Watch this video of butterflies in the garden. You can enjoy this in your yard THIS SUMMER if you plan now/plant soon!

These are swallowtail butterflies in my garden on Lantana "Mozelle". I use it whenever I'm creating a perennial garden or enlivening a boring landscape of hollies and juniper (you've seen that and I know, you know, what I mean!) Just like the more common "Ms. Huff" Lantana, this one is perennial in Atlanta and grows to about 5''x5'. WOW! In just 2 years it will be that size. Planted just after the frost date of spring, it will be 3'x3' in only the first summer!!!! Well, I can only promise that IF it's planted in a well draining raised bed such as the special organic soil mix we use on all raised beds that we build. I use Mozelle whenever the color palette is pink/fuschia/blue/purple/yellow/white and the bolder Ms. Huff when the surrounding colors will be bolder such as orange/red/gold. In either case, this is the perfect addition if you're looking for 6 months of color, easy or no maintenance, drought tolerance and a plant that attracts wildlife. You'll not only see butterflies visiting but also bees, hummingbirds and beneficial insects. I think it's the perfect plant and that's why I use it in just about all of the designs I install for sunny gardens.

I've added parsley, dill, planted carrots, thyme, planted birch, linden, etc. I forgot to mention the NWF backyard habitat sign in my yard too, lol. Almost everything in my yard is food, shelter, or cover for birds and butterflies. I always have some butterflies, but for some reason not the clouds of them that I had before.

Home & Garden, I want to let everyone know that there is only ONE plant for the Monarch butterfly to exist. The larvae (caterpillars) of monarch butterflies eat ONLY milkweed. I learned that and I buy the "weed". Other butterflies need other things. I buy their favorite foods, too. I'm a tree hugger!
