Stencil or Wallpaper My Foyer? Stencil Was the Way To Go!

I was trying to decide how to add more style to my foyer. I was debating between applying wallpaper or stenciling the walls. I went with stencil and am glad that I did. I can paint over it in the future (easier than removing wallpaper) and it was a ton less money! It was, however, extremely time consuming. Worth the effort!
Here is how it looked before the stencil. Kind of blah. The wall color is BM Linen White.
Here is the foyer now! The stencil paint color is BM Revere Pewter.
Here is the same view as the "before pic" after the stenciling. Huge improvement!
I purchased the stencil from my local craft store. Aside from the stencil, you also need a foam roller, level, pencil and step ladder for the project.
Stenciling around the corners is tricky. I have a full tutorial, including a video, on my blog at ThePaintedDrawer. The sunburst mirror was a HomeGoods purchase, as was the table. Love HomeGoods!
I really like how it complements my whitewashed stairs. The stairs are another post on my blog.
It certainly is a project that takes a lot of time to complete...and patience!
I really like how the wall looks against our black door.
For more stencil inspiration, I also stenciled my daughter's bedroom walls and posted about it on Hometalk and my blog - Gold Stenciled Walls.
My living room walls are also BM Revere Pewter - I happen to really love this color.
The next step is to paint Revere Pewter up the stairwell wall. I didn't want to attempt stenciling all the way up that tall wall and think the solid color will look great. And then I will continue it through the upstairs hall...it never ends :)

This is beautiful. Love your colors. I'm wondering about what it would look like if you ever decide to paint over it. Do you think you would have to sand it? Do the stencils leave a raised impression? I'm asking because I'm in an apartment and wondering about what I'd have to do to turn it back into a regular old wall. Thanks for any info
