The laundryroom is on main floor entrance right next to half bath. Would like to block it so it doesnt always have to be perfect and be able to keep a litter box in there for now. The entrance area is about 2.5 to 3 feet wide and has a rounded arch. Any suggestions or ideas?

when you walk in your home is it something that people would notice right away? or just in a common area that guest may go?

This is so off the wall, but it would totally be something I would do. Because of the archway I would not think you could put a full door in. But as I was thinking about it saloon type doors popped into my head. I don't know how into junk type places you are, but I am sure you could find something that resembles those type doors. You could even go as far as to using some wider shutters. Off the wall I know, but that is who I am :)

I love using drapery for doorways to soften a space, and it's far less expensive than doors. I used a short tension rod and some rod pocket curtains in my own laundry cased opening for exactly the same reason. So long as the opening is high enough at the beginning of the arch for you to easily walk below a rod, then you can use a tension rod inside the cased opening with rod pocket drapery panels and leave the arch exposed. Or, you can install a standard curtain rod at the top of the arch with drapery panels to cover the entire opening. I got extra long and very affordable linen panels at IKEA and trimmed and iron-hemmed them to length.
