Cheapo Side Table Flip - Don't Put It in Your Garage Sale!

Do you have and old ugly boring piece of furniture that you are considering giving away to Goodwill or selling at a garage sale? This is that piece. Yep. It sat in our office and every time I looked at it I just wanted to pitch it.
Anything is better than how it started out! So when I entered a drab to fab contest using Deco Art paint, I grabbed this and hoped for a miracle.

I got my miracle.
I cleaned the side table off (super dusty) and painted the entire piece with the color Treasure and then painted the top with Yesteryear from Deco Art.
It was a bit stark for my taste, so to tone it down I mixed a dark gray and water (50/50) to make a wash to antique it.
I just painted it on and used an old t'shirt to lightly wipe it off, leaving just enough of the wash to tone it down a bit.
I finished it with Deco Art's Cream Wax. I painted in on with a paint brush and it dried quickly with a very nice matte finish. I was amazed at how easy this was. I was so ready to toss this piece because it was so cheap looking. But after it was painted and antiqued, I couldn't believe how much I loved it!
Participants of The Fab Furniture Flippin' Contest receive product compensation from the sponsoring brand, Deco Art, in order to complete their themed projects. Deco Art will also provide the prize package for the contest winner. Thanks Deco Art!

I replaced the knob - hardware goes a long way to update a piece of furniture. Now it sits in my office and I admire it every time I go in to work. It's one of those, "pinch me, I can't believe it," type of flips.

Now it's one of my fave pieces. Go figure.

I love it. I have one almost just like that. I have never painted furniture before and really don't know how to begin but maybe when the weather warms up it will be time to try. What is Deco Art?
