Stain Artwork on Repurposed Cabinet Door
I used my stain "painting" technique on this old cabinet door to create a double exposure rose.
This is the finished close up ( I still need to do a little detailing and wax).
I started with an ivory background on chalk paint. I penciled in my rough outline,
I started with the outside because I wanted that layer to be softer/ lighter than the inside rose, hoping the main rose would get more impact.
I used grey Minwax stain on the outside and I have to say it is not as easy to blend as the Ebony Minwax that I typically use and will use on the interior rose.
Can't wait to start on the interior....
And the main rose begins (which is more fun!)
And this is the piece done except for some detailing and wax.

It is beautiful, could use some more gradual midtones, UNLESS the one in the middle is a smaller rose on top of a bigger one, OR you are making the center one a 3D image. I find what you do with stains and blending very beautiful. Painting images at least for me is easier than drawing.
