Working with Oil Based Paint

I tried my hand at painting some pieces with oil based paint recently. I had always been reserved about using it on my projects in the past. I conquered my fears with Rustoleum Enamel in Hunter Green. Im so excited with the results and that I finally got some gorgeous emerald into a couple spaces. Check out the blog for more details.

  • Hi Eliesa! Ah yes, you gotta love the issues FL humidity brings to DIY projects!! Im fortunate that I live in an area where we have zero humidity so my paint projects always dry fairly quickly. When I use the Rustoleum it only takes about 3 hours for it to dry to the touch and 24 for it to fully dry. As a rule of thumb though I always like to give it about a day and a half, more if possible, before I handle it though. Id say it fully cures after a week though.

I love the nightstand! Oil based paint is great. Just make sure you have mineral spirits for clean up and wear those thin latex gloves.
