An Irish Blessing Wall Decor

I love decoupage because it's just so easy. Recently, I discovered an easy peasy way to decoupage with tissue paper, so it looks like a transfer.
I found this three-leaf clover in the dollar area at Target for $3. I thought it would be perfect for a sweet Irish Blessing to hang on the wall for St. Patrick's Day.
I used basic acrylic paint from the craft store in a bright yellow green color and painted the whole clover, even the edges.
You can find the free printable for the Irish Blessing on my blog (link at the bottom of this post). I used 505 spray, which is an adhesive spray for doing sewing applique and that is how I attached the tissue paper to a regular piece of printing paper to run it through the printer. There are more photos on the blog.
I carefully removed the tissue paper from the printer paper. The paint was still a little tacky at this point. I brushed on a little bit of paper Mod Podge on the clover and then carefully positioned the tissue paper.
Then, I took a little bit of paint and covered the entire clover again. As you do this, the tissue paper breaks off at the edges as you can see in the picture.
Next, I let it dry for about an hour. Then, used a toothpick to remove any bits of tissue paper in those slats.
Next, I took a smooth sanding block and went over the whole thing very light, just to remove any wrinkles or excess tissue paper. Then, I went around the edges to give it a distressed look.
What I love about this little wall decor is that it's not overly St. Patrick's Day and you can keep it up year round.
Here is the finished piece. You can grab the free printable on my blog at the link below.

Cute idea if it was done on a different shape. It's a shame when I see people decorating or celebrating this Irish traditional way, because if you really knew the true deep and dark history behind this you would cringe like me. Please take the time to look it up for yourself. I love the craft and will be trying it, just on maybe an apple shape? It'll look great in my kitchen. Thanks for sharing...............
