Does anyone know of a good window glazing that cures quickly and won't cause blistering paint?

HandyANDY is working on an exterior in Marietta right now and we have to replace to window panes....but we're repainting the exterior as well. I've told the homeowners that I will likely have some blistering and have to touch up the two windows later on. Any ideas? I usually use the Dap in a tube which is pure white and easy to work with....but the paint always blisters if it isn't allowed to cure for a bit

Most window glazing putty takes weeks to cure, In my book it looks like your in for a second "touch up visit" later this summer.
  • Good old glazing putty. Just like KMS said. This product stays soft for years and never really hardens. Or at least until you want to fix the next broken glass pane, I doubt you will have that much peeling.
  • With the DAP product.....sure to blister every time unless you let it cure up for a few weeks.....which I don't have time for as the client is listing the house for sale & weather has already pushed us back. You'd think there would be something better out there. The DAP in the caulk tube is fairly convenient....thanks guys

This can be one of those "classic" cases of "I want it NOW and cheap" Old school craftsmanship took time...and in every case it is worth it. The saying time = money always holds true.
  • I thought as much KMS....just checking though! I'm sure I will be wandering back to touch-up
