Flower Power Stained Table.

I was given a small mid century coffee table.. that look pretty yuck.. I knew I wanted to experiment with stain.. and this is how she turned out.
I used a stencil , varnish and walnut stain to get this look.
I sanded as much of the top back as I could and tried to get it as light as I could.

Using the stencil .. I pounced 2 coats of water based varnish. let dry..

Come back with the walnut stain and stain over the top with a soft cloth.
once it was all finished.. I wanted to make it clearer and brighter.. so I used Q tip and some paint remover to remove any stain that was covering the flower pattern..

I really loved doing this.. and cant wait to try another.

Have you tried stenciling with a dark stain for the pattern instead?
