I have handmade crochet place mats. Any crafty ideas like shaping them into plant holders via starch?? What should I do with them??

Yes, you could also turn them into bowls the same way or join some together to make a table runner.

I took one of mine and cut a piece of Masonite the same size as the place mat. Then I glued the place mat onto the piece of Masonite , but only all the sides and a line of glue right down the centre of the length and a line of glue in the centre in the width. Hang it on the wall in your bedroom and hook all your earrings into it. It looks so nice. My earrings was always in a type of box and it was terrible to undo them when I needed them.

I made cute clutch purses out of rectangular crocheted placemats, Lined them with scrap fabric, embellished with buttons, charms, etc. and added shoulder straps to some of them. Really cute and shabby chic!

Great to use for pillow tops. They'd need to be lined. Or if you have several, you could line them and use them as a valance on a small window.

@Julia You're welcome. You could also use them to cover Easter Baskets, or to line baskets. Use them as doilies on furniture...or place them under glass on the top of a table, or in picture frames to hang on the wall.

I'm not sure if the place mats are round or rectangular? If they're round they make awesome dream catchers you just need an embroidery hoop, some beads and feathers. If they're rectangular you can turn them into scatter cushions.

If you want plant holders minus the starch, run a thin draw string through the place mat and draw it to the plant container and fasten it with a knot.
