Creating a Small Space Vegetable Garden

Do you have a backyard, a patio, or a window box? Have you been trying to find ways to maximize your space to get the highest yield? Tomatoes make bright and colourful hanging baskets. Or how about a window box full of mixed greens like West Coast Blend? I had been doing this for years but still wanted more. When sun is scarce and every square foot matters its time for some outside of the box thinking.
This lead me to Home Harvest Farms stainless steel 3 tiered terraced garden. A perfect fit for my patio living. Over the last year I trialed this garden in my home, with my kids, cats and friends picking, plucking and grazing.
The review comes in three parts. First we Created a Small Space Vegetable Garden http://www.thedandelionwrangler.ca/2012/04/creating-a-small-space-vegetable-garden-with-home-harvest-farms.html
Then we Created a Garden in the Sky http://www.thedandelionwrangler.ca/2012/06/growing-a-garden-in-the-sky-with-home-harvest-farms.html
Finally we came full circle Growing with Home Harvest Farms http://www.thedandelionwrangler.ca/2013/02/growing-with-home-harvest-farms.html
Assembly was required. Heavy duty gloves are a good idea when working with sheet metal.
We used clear silicone to seal our troughs, and around the spot where the drainage tubing attaches to the troughs.
Once we had finished building the garden I filled the three levels with a mix of quality potting soil and Sea Soil.
I seeded, getting the kids involved. Especially with the Nasturtium seeds.
We grew a wide range of herbs and vegetables in the garden, including Borage. Borage's flowers are edible and a favorite of mine in cocktails. It's leaves can be harvested for salads. They have a light cucumber taste. delish!
I kept the garden well watered through the summer. The kids were a big help with this.
Harvesting was kids favorite part. Peas, fresh from the garden.
A tomato thief in action. A problem I am happy to have.
Hey look! I got one too! Cherry tomatoes grew abundantly well in my Home Harvest Farm.

So, you tried 3 different types of home harvest gardens and this was the third one? Just want to make sure I understand this. I am amazed at the vegetables you produced! Great job!

Hmmm, yes that was oddly worded wasn't it. No, it is a 3 tiered terrace garden. I'll see if I can go back to edit.
